The label
“But don’t you see? The label shows what you ordered.”
“I understand. But I ordered a shirt, not a label.”
I was patient with the person on the other end of the call.
But we disagreed about whether I had received what I ordered.
The company didn’t quite know what to do with a mislabeled product.
They checked tags, packing slips, and order confirmations.
In some ways, the product itself had become secondary.
Sometimes we have to peel away the layers
until we can see what matters most.
